The members of Gimmesome Roy (Bob Rigel: Guitar & Vocals, Kirk Folk: Bass & Vocals, John Schlosser: Drums) began playing together in high school as Shadowfax. Kirk left the band for college. Upon his graduation, the power trio reunited under the name Gimmesome Roy. They played the local bar scene every weekend for several years. Eventually they went their separate musical ways. In 2017, Gimmesome Roy re-reunited to play a couple of shows. The boys had so much fun, they threatened to get back together for good. As with all things Rock'nRoll, Fate planted monkey wrenches within their path. NOW, in Spring 2022 they return to kick-ass and forget names. Keep an eye or two out for them @ Concerts, Nightclubs, Dive Bars, Parties and the backseat of your car!
EDITOR'S NOTE: For those of you curious about the origin of the name, I will edumacate you. One day I spotted an abandoned copy of Playboy while sitting idly in my college dorm. Being an avid reader, I picked it up to pass the time. That's right, pervs: just for the intellectual matter, not for the nudie pictures of lovely ladies. Shuuhhh! Within the pages of soft-core smut, I discovered a poem entitled "The Perfect High". The poem was written by famous children's author Shel Silverstein. Most people are unaware that Silverstein also wrote such hit songs as "A Boy Named Sue", "Cover of the Rolling Stone" and "Sylvia's Mother" etcetera. The protagonist of "The Perfect High" was named...SPOILER ALERT!...Gimmesome Roy. This struck me as a perfectly weird name for a band. We adopted it. Before long we discovered that people would yell "Gimme Some MORE Roy!!!" at the end of our shows. Win, win.
